NEW E-BOOK DATABASES
Since the start of 2010 BTH's library is enriched with two additional databases for e-books; SPIE eBooks and Safari Tech Books Online. They address topics of optics and photonics and technology in various forms.
SPIE eBooks is composed of three series of publications from SPIE Press, in optics and photonics.
SPIE Press Monographs: reference books, textbooks and handbooks.
Tutorial Text: cover fundamental and emerging topics at introductory and intermediate levels.
Field Guide: present key information that students and practicing engineers and scientists need in a concise format.
Currently there are 120 e-book titles available, but these holdings will be extended for further 15-20 titles in 2010. New titles from SPIE will be available in SPIE eBooks first.
SPIE eBooks is part of the SPIE Digital Library, which also contains journals, among which we have full access to Optical Engineering.

Safari Books Online was established in the year of 2001 and is a collaboration between two major publishers in technology, O'Reilly Media, Inc. and The Pearson Technology Group. The aim was to make the best books, from leading authors and publishers in the topics, available digitally. They offer books from more than 40 publishers worldwide.
BTH has access to a customized package (current file, books published in the last three years) of 2,195 e-books (in contrast to a previous package of 86 titles). Only two users at BTH can search the database simultaneously. If you don't get access immediately, try again later, or even better, in the morning. Also remember to logout when not using the service.
