Library card

To be able to borrow books from the library you'll need to activate your BTH card at the library, where you'll also receive a PIN-code.

Go to the information desk in the library to activate your card. Remember to bring some form of identification (e.g. a passport) and your BTH card! Note that you'll have to register your temporary adress in the Student's portal before you can get a library account.

BTH has a web page with more information about the BTH card:

You are responsible for all loans carried out with the card. At loss of card, notify the library immediately. Also notify the library if you change address.

Loans

utlån

The easiest way to issue a book is by using one of our lending stations.

Reference literature can only be read on location in the library, but please observe that you must still borrow the book when you want to use it.

This also applies to the books that are placed on the so called HAL-shelf (HAL stands for the School of Health Science) at Library Gräsvik, Karlskrona. The HAL-shelf contains course literature which is used at the nursing science programme, and the purpose of this shelf is that the students should have access to these books also when the regular copy is issued.

Please note that you must always borrow the book before you take it - even if you are only going to study in the library. Note that books must be borrowed before they are taken upstairs in the library.

Loan period

The loan period for books is normally 3 weeks. Books that are reserved by other patrons have a loan period of 7 days.

You will receive a reminder from us by e-mail when the end of the loan period is approaching. You can of course renew your loans if nobody else has reserved the books. There is a link to renewal of loans in the e-mail message you receive.

Reservations

If the book you are looking for is issued you can reserve it. This means that when the book is returned to the library it is set aside for you, and you will receive an e-mail message saying it is ready to collect. A reserved book is kept in a shelf by the lending stations for 3 work days, then the reservation is deleted.

Renewals

You can easily renew a book loan yourself via our website, using your library card number and pin code. You may then keep the book for another 3 weeks. If you want to renew interlibrary loans you must contact the library information desk.

Renewal of loans will not be accepted if another patron has reserved the book in question, or in case you have been suspended from loans.

Please note that a book loan can only be renewed 3 times this way. If you want to renew the book a fourth time you must contact the information desk.

Returning loans

Books are returned at the lending stations. When the library is closed you can return books in the book-drop outside the library entrance. If

Interlibrary loans

You can order books that are not held by the library as interlibrary loans by using the form below. Please note that we can not order books that we already hold. This means that if one of our books is issued, we will not order the same title from another library.

The delivery time varies, but in general it is at least one week. The loan period can also vary, but in general it is at least 3 weeks. Interlibrary loans are free of charge.

The form can also be used to suggest purchases for the library.

Order a book or an article

Books that are held only at one of our two library departments (Gräsvik or Piren) can be ordered and are delivered in 1-2 days.

If you are not a patron at this library, you should primarily contact your nearest public library and the staff there will help you order an interlibrary loan.

Journals

We do not lend our journals, but you can copy single articles free of charge.

Copies of articles from journals we do not hold can be ordered from other libraries.

Please note that many journals are available in full text in our electronic journal databases which you have access to through the institute's network.

Overdue books and reminders

Books and other media shall be returned within the specified loan period.

In case of overdue media a recall is sent as a reminder to the patron one week after the end of the loan period. The recall is sent by e-mail.

Three weeks after the end of the loan period an invoice for the issued media is sent to the patron. The cost for lost or damaged media depends on the cost for replacing the item.

For overdue/lost/damaged interlibrary loans, the lending library's regulations is applied.

Patrons who have received an invoice for media or a recall for a reserved item are suspended from loan until the media are returned or the invoice is paid.

Secrecy regulations

Information about a patron's loans, orders or reservations is not disclosed according to the Sekretesslagen 22 chapter §9 (SFS 1980:100, 1989:713).
