Sabbatical visit to Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden with expenses paid

As part of a major research project in software engineering entitled Engineering Software Qualities, we would like to invite researchers to have their sabbaticals in our research environment at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden. The software engineering research environment has established itself as a strong research environment internationally with a clear focus on empirical research and close industrial collaboration. The project consists of five main areas:
1. Alignment of Business, Architecture, Process and Organization
2. Business Value: Software Value and Innovation
3. Architecture: Software Architectures for Cloud-based and Multicore Systems
4. Processes: Optimization of software processes
5. Organization: Decision-support for Offshoring Software Development

The project includes a visiting researcher program and it runs for two years starting September 1, 2011. The project includes 14 faculty members covering different areas of software engineering and related areas such as multicore processing and cloud computing. The research is conducted in close collaboration with seven industrial partners.

The project is able to fund travel expenses for researchers and housing during the stay. We are unfortunately unable to pay salaries. It is expected that a researcher on sabbatical will have salary from their home university or research institute. Visits must be between 1-6 months and be within the time period September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2013.

We are looking for visiting researchers with a strong research record who is interested in collaborating with us in the above areas. Selection of candidates will be based on CV and a one page research proposal. The latter will be evaluated based on the objectives of the research project and potential joint research with project members. In addition, a suggested schedule should be provided, including dates for when a decision of selection is needed and preliminary arrival and departure dates. Statements of interest will be evaluated continuously until the funding available for the visiting research program has been used.

If you are interested or would like to have more information, please send an e-mail to Professor Claes Wohlin ( for further information.
