Workshop on the assessment and mitigation of climate change induced geohazards the Bishkek Case Study.
Семинар на тему Оценка и смягчение изменений климата вызванных опасными геологическими процессами.
EurAsClimpact is an acronym for the project:
ImPACT of CLIMate change and related glacier hazards and mitigation strategies in the EURopean Alps, Swedish Lapland and the Tien Shan Mountains, Central ASia.
Our project focuses on the empirical modelling of glacier development from climate data for six high alpine glaciers in three mountain ranges (Austrian Alps,Scandes & Tien Shan) during the last fifty years. The project started in early 2011 and we will study the change of four glaciers in Europe, namely the
- Pasterze-Glacier and Goldbergkees in Austria
- Storglaciären and Kårsa Glacier in Sweden
by analysing and downscaling global climate models and reanalysis data of these regions. In addition, we will study the development of two glaciers in Central Asia, namely of the
- Inylchek-Glacier and Kara Bat Kak-Glacier
in the Central Tien Shan, where the Global Change Observatory «Gottfried Merzbacher» serves as a field platform for international studies. The evaluation and downscaling of global climate models in Central Asia will contribute to a better understanding of the potential of these models to describe present climate and future climate under IPCC scenarios.
Austrian contribution to FP7 ERA-NET CIRCLE: EURAS-CLIMPACT (Impact of climate change and related glacier hazards and mitigation strategies in the European Alps, Swedish Lapland and the Tien Shan Mountains, Central Asia) is supported by grant BMWF-37.590/0001-II/4/2010 from the Federal Ministry of Science and Research. FORMAS, the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning, supported the Swedish part of the project.
