New analysis tools for efficient product developm.
On Thursday, December 15 Martin Magnevall defends his doctoral thesis on the subject Mechanical Engineering at BTH. The thesis is entitled "Simulation and Experimental Methods for Characterization of Nonlinear Mechanical Systems" and faculty examiner is Professor David Ewins from Imperial College in London, England.
For an effective product development process it is useful to, as early as possible in the design phase, estimate how the finished product will behave in its real environment. It is often necessary to take into account the dynamic behaviour of the product, i.e. the fluctuations that may occur in the system. By combining information from theoretical models and physical prototypes it is possible to already at an early stage of the product development process identify critical design parameters and use these to improve product functionality and performance.
