License provides right skills in software industry
An international team of software experts from industry and academia recently established "International Software Product Management Association" (ISPMA). Now, people working in the software industry can receive a diploma certifying competence in the management of software products. Chairman is Dr. Samuel Fricker from Blekinge Institute of Technology, BTH.
- Product management is extremely important for business and ICT departments that offer software-intensive products, packaged software or software services. Product strategy, product planning and effective collaboration between internal functions such as marketing, development, sales, distribution and service has a direct impact on the success of software products. It is important that a software organization has qualified product managers in their ranks. An ISPM license shows that the person has the right skills, says ISPM's chairman, Dr. Samuel Fricker.
The first meeting was held in 2009. ISPMA (www.ispma.org) is a nonprofit organization
cooperating with training providers and networks for certification. The members of ISPMA determine content, curricula and vocabulary. Compliance with ISO standards ensures neutrality and quality of the ISPMA certificates. All ISPMA-participants are officially recognized and the current members come from Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.
