What are the tuition fees for international students?
Blekinge Institute of Technology do not charge any tuition fees. You may however have to pay some small fees for course material provided by the teacher.
Can I work when visiting on a student visa?
Yes, you may work if you have student visa, but it is quite hard for foreign students to find part-time work due to the language barrier. Employees are often required to speak VERY good Swedish.
Can I bring my wife/husband with me when studying at BTH?
Yes, you can usually bring your wife/husband, but your spouse is not allowed to work i e you must have enough funding to support both of you. Do also note that you might have to find housing on your own, since most student rooms are planned for only one student.
If my mother language is English, do I still have to take the English TOEFL or IELTS test?
No. If you have English as your mother tongue you do not have to take a test. Do note that you have to state in your application if your mother tongue is English, if it is not obvious i e that you come from for example Great Britain.
I have taken all my courses at university in English medium. Do I still need to take the TOEFL test? Some students still have to take the TOEFL or IELTS tests in order to be eligible to apply for our programmes. If you wish to apply for the Msc in Business Administration or Msc in Software Engineering programme the minimum score required in English is higher than in the others. Some countries have sufficient high school / upper secondary education to make their students exempted from the lower minimum score required, but never the higher.
What is the minimum score in TOEFL or IELTS?
The minimum score required for MSc in Business Administration and MSc of Software Engineering is 213/550 in TOEFL, and 6,0 in total and at least 5,0 in each module in IELTS.
All other programmes have 173/500 in TOEFL, or 5,0 with at least 4,5 in each module for IELTS.
Can I apply for any scholarships?
Yes, you can indicate on the application form that you wish to be considered for a scholarship from the Swedish Institute. Do note however that the number of scholarships are very limited. There are NO scholarships provided by Blekinge Institute of Technology.
