1. The Pre-scientific Paradigm (The Second Century):
- Nature was viewed as an organism created by God, and the natural forces were beyond human control. Goal seeking, teleology, was built into nature. Observation, recording, experiment, curiosity were considered to commit a sin.

Ptolemy’s view of static universe, the Earth was the centre of the world. The Church and the Pope were the only authority to explain all phenomena.
