The focus in this thesis is a design suggestion, the Computer Aided Dispatch Map (Co-mAiDiMap). As a way of exploring innovative design suggestions, the design has been influenced by the use of alternative interfaces. Specially the Pond, a prototype developed in ICE-laboratory (ICE-lab) at Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS). The design is also influenced by the innovative Disappearing Computer concept. It is made for the SOS operators working in Swedish emergency service centres (SOS Alarm AB Sverige) for supporting the handling of 112 calls. The research question in this thesis is: How can the SOS operators handling of 112 calls in their work practice be supported individually and cooperatively using alternative interface design? The foundation that the design is based on is an integration of the dispatch system (CoordCom) and the computerized map application currently in use at the SOS centres.
