The new labor market is heavily influenced by global competition and technological change, which has radically changed the old paradigm of company’s survival, job security and the relationship between employers and employees. Employability puts the individual attributes in the center and proceeds from them when it is to explain what determines a person’s ability to acquire an occupation. This study is based on the definition of employability is a set of abilities - skills and personal qualities - which means that individuals are more likely to gain employment. The following study examines the individual factors that employers themselves perceive as most relevant to a job candidate's employability in an employment situation, and if there is a difference between the private and public sectors perceptions. The study has a phenomenographic approach and the material was gathered through semi-structured interviews. The results show that an individual's employability is perceived differently depending on the sector an employer recruits for, their personal view of the importance of personality and perception of the candidates based on their social skills
