Abstract: This paper discuss the change in early design imposed by a Product-Service Systems (PSS) perspective onto the design and development phases of engineering design and how this affects the today de-facto standard of virtual modelling of product properties. The approach is exemplified via PSS situations related to aerospace and automotive industry in order to clarify “parameters of change” due to PSS reasoning, and challenges are displayed regarding early modelling and simulation.
