Abstract: A recent theorem on nonlocal conservation laws is applied to a magma equation modelling a melt migration through the Earth´s mantle. It is shown that the equation in question is quasi-self-adjoint. The self-adjoint equations are singled out. Nonlocal and local conservation densities are obtained using the symmetries of the magma equation.
