Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) is one of the most distinctly profiled higher education institutions in Sweden, with a clear focus on applied IT and innovation for sustainable growth. BTH is a broad-based institute with education and research in several disciplines and subjects; Technology, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Humanities, Caring and Public Health Sciences influenced by the applied IT profile. This creates conditions for fruitful meetings between the humanities and technology and high-quality research within technical research areas as well as within inter-disciplinary research in collaboration between different disciplines.

Such an interdisciplinary research setting and a new research area "Applied Health Technology" has emerged in the interface between technology and health. This has created a need for post-graduate courses where different scientific traditions, research approaches and research methods meet.

Research Design with Applications within Inter-disciplinary Research

With this course we want to create a forum for doctorial students to discuss research designs and methods, their epistemology and applications in various fields of research, and opportunity to critically reflect on the research design and methods in their own dissertation work.
