At the School of Health Science research and education in health, care and nursing is conducted with the purpose of preventing disease, prolonging life and promote health based on the perspective of the citizens, patients and health professionals. In our work, research and clinical work is integrated with technical knowledge to promote a good life.


The education addresses, among others, students who want a professional competence as a nurse with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing / Caring Science and to nurses who wishes to pursue a specialist nursing diploma. At the School there are also Bachelor's and Master's programs in Public Health Science as well as a Master's program in Caring Science. The programs are striving to integrate BTH:s profile of applied IT and innovation toward sustainable growth

The School's research, with its base in the education, has in recent years grown significantly. The aim is to create strong and competitive research environments which supports both strategic and long-term research projects and encourages cross-sectional activities.

The School of Health Science participates in Student and Teacher Exchanges both within the Nordic countries and the European Union as well as with South Africa (Limpopo) and Botswana. The Student Exchanges cover theoretical studies as well as practical placements and thesis work.
