About the School

At the School of Health Science research and education in health, care and nursing is conducted with the purpose of preventing disease, prolonging life and promote health based on the perspective of the citizens, patients and health professionals. In our work, research and clinical work is integrated with technical knowledge to promote a good life.

Education

The education addresses, among others, students who want a professional competence as a nurse with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing / Caring Science and to nurses who wishes to pursue a specialist nursing diploma. At the School there are also Bachelor's and Master's programs in Public Health Science as well as a Master's program in Caring Science. The programs are striving to integrate BTH:s profile of applied IT and innovation toward sustainable growth. Specifically within this profile is a program, which is currently under development, directed at health and technology, leading to a Bachelor's degree. Programs and courses are taught in the Nursing / Caring Science, Public Health Science, Medical Science and Applied Health Technology.

Research

The School's research, with its base in the education, has in recent years grown significantly. The aim is to create strong and competitive research environments which supports both strategic and long-term research projects and encourages cross-sectional activities. The research is divided in the two research environments Sustainable Active Ageing and Health & Technology. The research environments include research in the School's four research areas, Caring Science, Public Health Science, Medicine and Applied Health Technology. The School also conducts some research projects that fall exclusively within their areas of research.
