Overall aim of the thesis

The overall aim is to examine autonomy as a concept from a caring perspective, how and when patients perceive autonomy as well as how and when patients' autonomy is taken care of and can be promoted in connection to nursing interventions in technologically intense health care settings.

Professional background/Interests

I began my career as a Registered Nurse in 1985 and after a couple of years at the medical-, urological- and orthopedic clinic, I received my degree from specialist training in intensive care in 1990. I have worked in the ICU and associated post-operative activities. The last ten years until 2008, I was employed at the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care unit. Starting in 2006, alongside work, I studied complementary pedagogical training, at Stockholm University (SU) and it was there I received my bachelor's degree in Educational Sciences (2008) and my master's degree in Educational Sciences with Specialization in Practical Traditions of Knowledge (2010). Since 2008 I have had my residence at the School of Health Science (HAL) at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) where I have mostly worked as a teacher at the Study Programme in Nursing.
January 1st  2011, I was accepted for postgraduate studies at Lund University where I participate in doctoral seminars in LANS (Lund Advanced Nursing Study Group) at the Department of Health Sciences.
