Academic Ceremony

The Academic Ceremony is an annual ceremony where doctoral degrees are conferred and professors are inaugurated. Guests who are of importance to the Institute are invited as well as colleagues and students.

In 2009, the Academic Ceremony will be held at Blekinge Institute of Technology on Friday,
October 9.

Why October?

On October 12, 2000, the government decided that the Institute, with immediate effect, would take the name Blekinge Institute of Technology.

From 2001, it was decided that the annual Academic Ceremony would take place on October 12th each year if that date were to fall on a Friday. If the 12th falls on another day of the week, the Ceremony is held on the Friday closest to the 12th.
