More and more people have become aware that sustainability is a major challenge to civilization and the survival of humanity. Literally, sustainable means lasting, and it has become clear that the current way we have organized human society cannot last. It is unsustainable. From climate change and peak oil, to water shortages, degraded ecosystems, poverty and pollutants - the list goes on. This course entitled "Leading change for a sustainable chemical industry" lets the participants develop the skills they need to support their organization to thrive, now and in the future.
“I am very pleased to see so many industry champions leading by example in pursuit of a more sustainable future. This is an excellent start to our endeavour of creating cross-sectoral and science based cooperation for sustainability”, says Karl-Henrik Robèrt, founder of The Natural Step and professor at Blekinge Institute of Technology.
Hydro Polymers Gelled Compounds and Logistics Director, Paul Wheatley stated, “I’m delighted that within a relatively short time scale we have succeeded in engaging a major part of our supply chain to address sustainability challenges together. This course can only accelerate our progress towards sustainability that will strengthen our supply chain and the industry as a whole."
Patrice Barthelmes, Group Vice President for Packaging and Building Materials, Rohm and Haas: "We continue working hard to integrate sustainability into our business strategy. Success will also depend on these team members who will act as change agents and be able to apply the knowledge gained in the course into practical cases of sustainability within our organization."
