Welcome to the school of engineering (ing)

The School of Engineering (ING) comprises the Departments of Mathematics and natural sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Strategic Sustainable Development and Executive Office. ING is responsible for 17 different education programs and approximately 50 different freestanding courses. At ING, a large number of research projects are in progress in 5 different research groups and 1 research center (SPIRIT)
The ING staff comprises ca 90 people, of whom 12 are Professors, 3 are Associate Professor, 20 are Senior Lecturers and 9 are Lecturers. Currently, 20 Ph D students conduct research at ING. ING's turnover is ca 99 MSEK, of which 50% comes from Education and the remaining 50% from Research.

Why Technology and Engineering?

All parts of the society are today dependent on IT, Technology and Engineering. This means that the society needs a large number of people with competencies within Engineering. This need becomes constantly greater. Today, there is a shortage of engineers in Sweden and other countries. The forecasts show that ca 5000 engineers have to be graduated every year during the coming 10 years to cover the furture needs of our society. In other words, it is now time to study engineering.

Research

ING's researchers are focused on Mathematical Modelling, Product Development, Signals, Systems, Sensors and Remote Engineering, Remote Sensing and Radio Signals, Sustainability Driven Innovation. Several laboratories at ING can be operated from distance. Our sustainability education is ranked as the best in Sweden and the third best in Europe. Our research within Sustainability is unique in the world.
