A Reflection Room at Blekinge Institute of Technology
In conformity with other universities, hospitals, etc., Blekinge Institute of Technology, BTH, has a room that is dedicated to silence. Here, BTH students and staff may carry out meditation, reflection or prayer.
Guidelines and rules for the use of BTH's Reflection Room
- The Reflection Room is set up for private devotion, prayer and contemplation for BTH students and staff.
- The Reflection Room is not for conversation, study, to eat or to rest in.
- The Reflection Room is open to all, regardless of religion, gender or sexual orientation.
- Use of the Reflection Room is free of charge.
- The Reflection Room cannot be reserved or booked for group gatherings or for religious holidays, except by someone who is an officially active religious representative at BTH.
Furnishings and decorations in BTH's Reflection Room
- Permanent and visible furnishings and decorations are not representing or do not reflect a specific religion, belief system or tradition. Exceptions to this may be a simple compass marker pointing to Mecca.
- There is storage facility for attributes of the denominational type, such as prayer mats, spiritual literature, icons, etc. These attributes can be used by visitors to the Reflection Room and shall be returned to the storage area after use.
- BTH has the right to remove books and other materials deemed contrary to the BTH values.
