Blekinge Institute of Technology

STRUCTURE

The MSc in Business Administration program (MScBA) is offered as a full-time program over one academic year and is equivalent to 60 credits (högskolepoäng).  This means that during the one-year MScBA program you are expected to complete courses which total 60 credits.    Note:-  You can also take on additional courses but any credits over the required 60 will be registered as additional courses outside of the program.

At Blekinge Institute of Technology the academic year is divided into two semesters each containing two learning periods of about 10 weeks. This means that during the one year academic MScBA program you will have 4 Learning periods.  During each of these learning periods a set of different courses are offered for you to choose among.

The way the different courses are offered represents the recommended study path and is outlined below. Note that there might be specific requirements for individual courses.

The programme is made up of three groups or sets of courses, each filling a specific role in the program.

The first set of courses are contextual and focus on today’s business environment.   These courses should provide students with an awareness of some of the social, political, ethical and economic conditions of doing business in an increasingly global economy. Students should chose at least 7,5 credits from this set of courses.

The second set of courses offers students different options for specialisation within the program's main subject area of Business Administration. From this set, students are to choose a minimum of 15 credits which has to be completed before the Master Thesis can be started.

The third set of courses focuses on business research and scientific inquiry and includes the Master thesis. The courses in this set are mandatory to all students and total 22.5 credits.

The minimum requirement for these three sets totals 45 credits (7.5 + 15 + 22.5). This leaves an additional 15 credits in which students can freely choose from either our specialisation and contextual courses or from the varying number of optional courses we have available. (See Programme Description and Courses)

It should be noted that as the programme is continually being evaluated and developed, there may be changes in the courses offered and/or the position of the courses outlined on the following page - Programme Description and Courses .
