Aims and
objectives
The aim is to develop tools based on optimization which can support
the planning in transportation chains within the food industry.
Results and
impact
In the process of developing planning tools for improved
resource utilization, a number of planning scenarios will be created and
analyzed. This analysis will assist the actors to develop improved policies
and rules of thumb by comparing current operations with optimal operations.
The analysis can also be used for evaluating different investment options,
such as, investment in inventory capacity and in vehicles. Since the
studied project concerns the optimization of a system including many
actors, the project is intended to promote cooperation between actors.
Implementation
of Plan and Methodology
An optimization model will be developed and optimization
methods based on decomposition will be employed. Additionally, ideas from
multi-agent technology will be utilized.
