The Department of Systems and Software Engineering (APS), (Avdelningen för Programvarusystem in Swedish) is part of the School of Engineering at Blekinge Institute of Technology.
The Department of Systems and Software Engineering (APS) deals with research and education in the following areas: Software Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, and Intelligent Systems. The department primarily performs research in the intersection between software and systems, i.e. the key challenge is to contribute to the field of software-intensive systems. Most of the research is conducted in close cooperation with industry to ensure high industrial relevance.
Research
The research activities take place in 3 laboratories:
DISL- Distributed and Intelligent Systems Laboratory
PAARTS - Parallel Architectures and Applications for Real-Time Systems
SERL - Software Engineering Research Lab
Co-operation
The department research is funded from Blekinge Institute of Technology and it also receives significant contributions from the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems (Vinnova), the Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen), and the European Commission (EU).
The research covers both basic research and projects in cooperation with industry - projects are or have been conducted in cooperation with ABB , Axis Communications, BMT Transport Solutions GmbH, Cetetherm AB, Danaher Motion Särö (formerly NDC Automation AB), Ericsson (Blekinge and Stockholm), FoodTankers AB, Karlshamns AB, Municipality of Karlshamn, SUN, Telenor, TFK (Transport Research Institute), UIQ Technology (formerly Symbian), Volvo IT and several other companies.
