Participatory, sustainable, convergent and high quality public e-services - developing methods and practices is a multidisciplinary research project which was funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) during 2007-2009, within the framework of the Swedish Research Links program. The project aim has been to develop long-term research cooperation within the area of e-government with the TeNeT group at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai (IIT-M). Project leader at Blekinge Institute of Technology: professor Sara Eriksén. Project leader at IIT-M: professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala, research leader of the Telecommunications and Computer Networks group (TeNeT). At Blekinge Institute of Technology, besides the IAW research group, associate professor Markus Fiedler and his research group in Telecommunication systems and professor Hans-Jürgen Zepernick and his research group in Radio communication are also actively involved in this R&D collaboration, which has continued during 2010 and will hopefully result in a European/Indian R&D project within the European 7th Framework programme.

European level projects

National level projects

Karttjänstkvalitet/ Mapping service quality - is a research project focusing on examinging how users of map-based services on-line experience the quality of these services when the traffic load is high, and how the users' experiences of acceptable or not acceptable quality can be related to measurable parameters which can be used to manage network traffic and improve technical solutions. The project is a multi- and interdisciplinary pilot project in co-operation between researchers within human work science/informatics and telecommunication systems at Blekinge Institute of Technology. The pilot project is being funded during 2007 by the II Foundation. .SE 

Planeringsportalen/ the Planning Portal - is a three-year reseach and development project which aims to provide a web service to support physical planning, infrastructure planning and planning decisions relating to the location of buildings and establishments. The project is being funded 2006 - 2009 by VINNOVA, the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems, and is co-ordinated by the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning. Participating partners are researchers from Blekinge Institute of Technology (IAW and Spatial Planning), Lund University, University of Linköping and University of Gävle, and Swedish Land Suvey, Statistics Sweden, Sweden's County Administrations, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and companies from the building, real estate, wind power and system development sectors. Planeringsportalen 

Informatics Network Sweden (formerly called D-Ringen) is a cooperative project with the aim of developing a sustainable national knowledge and competence-sharing network of researchers in the area of Informatics. 

One concrete result of the  cooperation is the joint Ph D courses on Fundamental IS issues and Design Theory and Design Research which were offered during 2006-2007. Research seminars

Another result is the two Internet-based master programs in Informatics which are offered by a number of the network partners in collaboration, starting in the autumn of 2007.

Regional level projects

AUGMENT - Proof-of-Concept project run in collaboration with BTH Innovation and X-Ovation during 210-2011.

AUGMENT - a pilot project aiming to develop a prototype of a user-driven mobile accessibility information service. This project was co-funded by the Blekinge Research Council, the Swedish Research Council/SIDA and the India project during 2008-2009. Research project leader: Annelie Ekelin

Game development for habilitation work with children and young people - a pilot project in collaboration with the Competence Centre at the Blekinge County Council, funded by the Blekinge Research Council (Blekinge Forskningsråd) 2010-2011. Health and Games - a one-year strategic pilot project within the School of Computing at BTH for developing interdisciplinary R&D around design and development of serious games supporting health and well-being 2010. Project leader: Sara Eriksén

Företagsam vardag i Blekinge - Business as Usual in Blekinge - is a project in the making which focuses on integrated local and regional public e-services for private enterprise in the Blekinge region. A presentation of the proposed project was made at a meeting with the BLUES group in Ronneby on April 10th 2006 (in Swedish).Företagsam vardag i Blekinge 

e-Participation, a research and development project exploring ways of supporting and enhancing user/citizen participation in the development of the information and knowledge society. Funded by Sparbanksstiftelsen Kronan. e-Participation 

The project was run along three parallel tracks:

The first is the e-government network: monthly meetings with IT businesses, public sector representatives and researchers, where e-government developments in the region are presented and discussed. Coordinator: Jan Björkman, Blekinge Institute of Technology. Coordinator

The second is planning and initiating joint regional research and development projects together with the e-government network partners. Here we are currently involved in writing a joint project proposal to the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems, VINNOVA.
