The program will not start in 2010. Instead it will be divided into three different programs at August 2010 intake:
1) MSC in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on Signal Processing
2) MSC in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on Radio Communications
3) MSC in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on Telecommunications Systems
Application for the three programs above for August 2010 intake will open December 2009
Autumn 2010:
Programme Start: August 31, 2010
Programme End: June, 2012
Rate of Studies: Full time
Type of Programme: Master's level
Language of Instruction: English
Campus: Karlskrona and Ronneby, Sweden (Mainly Karlskrona)
Introduction
The objective of the programme is to prepare for qualified development work in industry as well as provide a basis for research studies. The students meet and work closely with researchers in the field of Internet Systems, Signal Processing, Radio Communications Systems and Telecommunications and will get a thorough understanding in these areas.
Aim
After finishing the studies the student will be able to apply the knowledge in a range of situations for an analysis of problems as well as creation of solutions. The student will be able to select, design and apply a range of complimentary and cohesive tools and concepts in the area. In order to get the masters degree a student has to complete 90 ECTS (1.5 years) courses plus a 30 ECTS (0.5 year) Master research thesis work, totally 2 years.
Contents
The programme offers four branches:
Internet Systems
The branch emphasizing internet systems is mainly focused on networking issues related to the internet. Important protocols, system evaluation methods as well as current trends and problems in the context of mobile and broadband communications including safety issues are discussed. Example of important courses: Modern Techniques of Networking, Mobile Services, Network Security, Network Management, Simulation, Wireless Personal Area Networks, Telecommunication Systems
Signal Processing
The branch emphasizing signal processing is mainly focused on adaptive and acoustic signal processing. Industrial applications are emphasized, such as noise and vibration control, speech coding, speech enhancement, image processing, etc. Example of important courses: Multidimensional Signal Processing, Sound- and Vibration Analysis, Adaptive Signal Processing, Optimal Signal Processing, Neural Networks
Radio Communications
The branch emphasizing radio communications will provide the foundations of radio communications and the technical concepts of radio systems, wireless systems, antennas, transmission, etc such as system design fundamentals, standards, and trends. Example of important courses: Digital transmission, Radio communications, Antennas, Wireless Networks, Wireless personal area networks, etc
Telecommunications
The branch emphasizing telecommunications is an option for the student who wishes to obtain a broader knowledge in the above fields (i.e. a mix of two or three the areas above)
