Research in the Work Practice Laboratory
Work Practice Laboratory, WPL, stands for the ambition to develop an environment for use oriented design, grounded in an understanding of relevant work practices and actual use of IT and other technologies.
The concept WPL is already an important part of the research and education in the School of Engineering at Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden.

Purpose and Goal
The overall purpose and long term goal is to develop a centre for the study of work practices and for the developement of IT for real use in real settings. Studies of work practices will be closely related to design and development of IT based tools and technologies that will support work in an improved and more creative way. This design work will relate profoundly to peoples everyday work practices. A baseline for the development of future technologies should be solutions grounded in knowledge and understanding of real activities in real time.
