Michael Davis was raised in Southern California.  He received his B.A. in English at U.C. San Diego.  He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in English at the University of Texas at Austin, for which he wrote The Discourse Of Oratory: The New Rhetoric And Romantic Writing. While at Texas, he was employed at the Computer Writing Research Lab, where he taught extensively with synchronous conferencing and hypertext technologies and served as a founding editor of the electronic journal Computers, Writing, Rhetoric and Learning, which has recently seen a revival as Currents in Electronic Literacy.

In the Department of Humanities at BTH, Mr. Davis teaches in the English Studies and LKDM program and has, until recently, actsed as web editor. Apart from the standard array of classes in literature, literary theory, American culture and academic writing, he has taught courses on science fiction, American film and the application of information technology to the humanities. As a researcher, he has given conference presentations and published a number of articles on computer-assisted education in the humanities.

Over the last few years he has most been engaged in two major research projects: The Blekinge Electronic Text Center, financed by Sparbanken Kronan, and COVAX (Contemporary Cultural Virtual Archives in XML), which is part of the European Union's Fifth Framework Program in Information Society Technologies.

He is married, has two children and is active in the local rock climbing club.
