Training: Aquring KSA on tourism planning

Planning for sustainable tourism requires a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes - in educational parlance known as KSA. Training in weighting tourism interests and deliberating on sustainability of tourism projects against other planning concerns is difficult but can be assisted by case methodologies.

In the masters programme "European Spatial Planning and Regional Development"  at BTH we have developed a study case which involves many different aspects of environmental, social and economic sustainability. The core of this exercise - the case of a fictitious coastal municipality  -is offered here to other planning educators. Please share your experiences with us if you use the module. The Athena-tool developed at BTH for organising arguments and structuring a presentation of contentious issues is particularly suitable for deliberating on sustainability and can be recommended in conjunction with this planning case.
