Best Paper Award at Software Engineering Conference

BTH researchers Emilia Mendes and Claes Wohlin received the Best paper award at the Euromicro Conference Series on Software Engineering and Advanced Applications (SEAA).

The paper “Search Strategy to Update Systematic Literature Reviews” by BTH researchers Emilia Mendes and Claes Wohlin and co-authors Marcos Kalinowski and Katia Romero Felizardo from Brazil, received the Best paper award for SEAA 2019. SEAA has six tracks, and the paper was published in the “Systematic Literature Reviews and Mapping Studies” track. These types of studies have become an important research method in software engineering in the recent decade, according to SEAA.

– Our paper was judged to present the best research quality over all the papers that were accepted for SEAA2019. It’s a huge honour for us to receive this award, Emilia Mendes says.

The SEAA conference is an international forum for researchers, practitioners, and students to present and discuss the latest innovations, trends, experiences, and concerns in the field of Software Engineering and Advanced Applications in information technology for software-intensive systems.

Systematic literature reviews are a form of secondary study that uses a well-defined methodology to identify, analyse and interpret available evidence related to a specific research question in a way that is unbiased and (to a degree) repeatable. Mapping studies are a broad review of primary studies in a specific topic area which aims to identify what evidence is available on the topic.
