Scope and limits

The project should use common and widely used Open Source components in order to ensure repeatability. The testing should be run and deployed in a Public cloud environment.

Suggested deployment

A private blockchain should be deployed in 2 different Public cloud tenants to simulate a common blockchain shared between 2 parties. Open source log handling software such as logrotate should be configured to send logs to an external log server and send hash values of the log in to the blockchain.

Suggested process

First install and deploy a blockchain in 2 separate tenants. Then explore how to configure log tools to send and store log information in the blockchain with the hash or send the log files to a separate storage and send the hash only into the blockchain. The process should be verified against forensic practices as an functional procedure for storing logs that can be used as digital evidence.Performance tests and comparisons should be made against storing the hash every time the log file updates vs making archives on a schedule and storing the hash of the archive vs storing the log into the blockchain itself.
