About the authority

As a public-sector university, Blekinge Institute of Technology, BTH, has three main tasks: to conduct education, research and to interact with the surrounding community. We conduct education and research in areas in which society has major needs.

The highest decision-making body of the university is the Board of Governors. The head of BTH is the Vice-Chancellor who has the overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the university.

As an independent authority, BTH is governed by applicable laws and regulations, annual appropriation directions and the internal guidelines decided by the Board of Governors and the Vice-Chancellor.

The appropriation direction governs the task of a government authority and the funds available to the University.

Internal guidelines decided by the Board and the Vice-Chancellor describe how BTH is organised, its decision-making procedures and operations.
