About the authority

About the authority

As a public university, Blekinge Institute of Technology, BTH, has three main tasks: to conduct education, research and to interact with the surrounding society. The University should also work to ensure that research results are useful.

The highest decision-making body of the university is the Board. The head of the authority is the Vice-Chancellor who has the overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the university.

As an independent government authority, BTH is governed by applicable laws and regulations, annual appropriation directions and the internal guidelines decided by the Board and the Vice-Chancellor.

The appropriation direction governs the task of a government authority and the funds available to the University.

Internal guidelines decided by the Board and the Vice-Chancellor describe how the University is organised, its decision-making procedures and operations.
