Here you can find information about the library services during the pandemic.

N.B. This information, which is valid during the pandemics, isn’t static and can be changed at any time. Keep updated!

NEW:
The library reopens on 17/8 for visits and studies. Follow the Public Health Agency’s recommendations: Keep your distance, wash your hands often, and stay home if you are ill.

If you need information about the Coronavirus/ COVID-19, go to the web site of the Public Health Agency of Sweden. There you can find updated information in several languages.

THE DIGITAL LIBRARY

Use Summon@BTH to access the digital library.

Expanded access to databases during the pandemic:
Several publishers and database providers open up their e-resources during the pandemic to make it easier for students and faculty. It includes e-books but also recorded lectures and courses. We have tagged them COVID-19 free. Be sure to test them during the free period!

ONLINE INFORMATION DESK

The information desk is open online in zoom for staff and students. Contact us at biblioteket@bth.se to make an appointment

BOOK A LIBRARIAN

Students and staff at Blekinge Institute of Technology can book an appointment with a librarian for advanced information searches online via Zoom (video conference).

BORROW PRINT BOOKS

SUMMER LOANS: Books borrowed or renewed after June 9th will not have to be returned until 31st August.

Now that we have opened the library again, you can look for the books yourself and borrow them using the self check out.

What do you do if you haven’t activated your library account yet?
Log in to the Student portal, activate your account there.

THE BOOK I NEED IS NOT AVAILABLE

Make a reservation by searching for it in Summon@BTH and then use the three dots in the upper right corner. You will get a message as soon as it is available.

Once you have received your message, you can pick up the books during our opening hours, you’ll find the books on the reservation shelf, sorted on borrower numbers. Then you borrow using the self-check out.

RESERVED BOOKS

When you have received the message, you can pick up the book during the opening hours.

The book is reserved for you on the reservation shelf and sorted by the borrower number. You find your borrower number in the message we sent you.

I’M NOT IN KARLSKRONA AND I CAN’T PICK UP THE BOOKS

If you have received a message that you have a book to pick up and you are unable to come here to pick it up, please contact us at biblioteket@bth.se or call 0455-385101 and we’ll try to solve the problem.

RENEWALS

Try to renew the books online.
If a book is reserved by another user, you must return it. There is a mailbox on the steps outside the library where you can return books.

If you can’t come to campus, you can send the books to:

RETURNS

At Gräsvik there is the book drop outside the library entrance (enter at the BTH reception) where you can return books. We empty the box several times every day.
At Piren you can return books in house A.

E-BOOKS

How do you find e-books?
Search in the search box on the library web site. If we have access to a book, you will find a link to the full-text which you can use to access the book. Use your student account (acronym and password) to log in. We give access to about half a million titles, most of them in English.

Because of the pandemic, some publishers give free access to their e-books.
We have made a list of publishers and other services which provide extended access.

LAPTOP

During the pandemic we do not lend laptops to students.
