BTH participated in IT security summer school in Ukraine and Russia
BTH professors and students participated in the summer school master courses in IT security that took place at Lviv, Ukraine, and St Petersburg, Russia, in June and July, 2016.
The first part of the summer school took place at Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine, during June 27th and July 8th, where three BTH professors and five BTH students participated.
The second part of the summer school was at St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, Russia, during July 18th and July 31st, where six BTH students participated.
In total 50 students from Poland, Sweden, Ukraine and Russia took part in the summer school which was arranged as a boot camp, with lectures and training every day. In the evenings different cultural and social activities were arranged.
The summer school is part of the Engensec project, which is managered by BTH. The courses belong to a set of Engensec double diploma courses developed by its partners. The courses are meeting current security IT challenges, identified by academia and industry. During the summer school guest teachers from university partners of Engensec gave lectures on malware, digital forensic, pentesting and ethical hacking, wireless & mobile security as well as advanced network & cloud security.
Lecturers from the digital forensic and computer crime unit from the federal police in Germany as well as a company from Russia, ECHELON, specialist in penetration testing and ethical hacking, participated in the summer school.
For the students, the summer school was a success in two respects; a deepened knowledge of the various areas of IT security as well as a finding a network of friends in both Lviv and St Peterburg.
BTH are happy to welcome students from the summer school at our campus this autumn. The students will stay at BTH for one semester as part of their master´s programme.
