BTH researcher awarded visiting professor fellowship in Indonesia
Hans-Jürgen Zepernick has been awarded a prestigious visiting professor fellowship under the World Class Professor programme of the Directorate General of Science and Technology Resource and Higher Education, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Indonesia.
BTH professor Hans-Jürgen Zepernick is doing research in the area of human-centered visual and interactive systems, including immersive mobile multimedia. It is in this area that he will be cooperating with the Indonesian researchers.
The World Class Professor programme invites world-class professors from various well-known universities both at home and abroad, as a visiting professor to be placed at different universities in Indonesia for a maximum of 6 months. The programme is intended for Indonesian researchers, so that they can interact with renowned and distinguished professors. This programme also gives an opportunity for Indonesian researchers to visit the home university of the visiting professors. This visit is aimed to foster Indonesian researchers to learn and exchange knowledge to increase the quality of publications in top-ranked journals through joint publications and research.
All these activities are part of the Indonesian government´s strategic plan to improve the ranking of the universities in and towards QS World University Ranking top 500.

The terms for visiting professors from international universities include having published over 50 Scopus indexed journal articles, experience in leading research laboratories and large research projects, and experience in obtaining research funds coming from international agencies.
The funding obtained through the World Class Professor programme will support joint research on the topic “Resource Allocation for Digital Video Broadcasting Systems Based on Objective Perceptual Video Quality Metrics: Performance Assessment and Implementation Issues” together with researchers at Gunadarma University, Jakarta.
The research activities include a visit of Dr. Maulana Kusuma from Gunadarma University to the Department of Creative Technologies at BTH during August 2018. Professor Hans-Jürgen Zepernick will visit Gunadarma University in October 2018 during which the planned joined journal article shall be finalized and submitted. In addition, as part of the awarded research program, an international seminar entitled “Toward Immersive Mobile Multimedia: From Mobile Video to Mobile Extended Reality” will be delivered by Prof. Zepernick during his visit.
