When collaboration becomes a winning concept

During “Näringslivsdagarna” in Karlskrona (Karlskrona Business Days), you will find several good examples of how BTH collaborates with business and industry as well as society. Everywhere we hear testimonies that collaboration is a winning concept – students can use their knowledge in real projects and companies have the chance to find well-educated staff.

During Karlskrona Business Days, BTH participates in several different ways; BTH teachers, researchers and students are there to show exciting research or to inform about our education. At Karlskrona Business Days, you will find both current and former BTH students working with companies.

Emma Thorén, former web programming student, works as a consultant at the company Softhouse today, where she is one of several former students.

– It’s a fantastic collaboration we have with BTH. We had 15 students in a project and now six of them are employed here. When we have students in different projects we can test new technologies as well as get to know future colleagues, says Anna Bäcklin, responsible for Softhouse in Karlskrona.

We also meet Johannes Eschricht and Eric Nilsson, current software and web programming students. They have worked with Sigma IT Consulting during their education.

– We started to do a student project at Sigma, then we got a summer job there and now we are employed, says Eric Nilsson.

The students were assigned the task of developing a web page for one of Sigma’s customers. Today the project is completed and the students demonstrate the product at Karlskrona Business Day, together with the customer.

– We have made an analysis tool for savings and pensions and we have developed it from scratch, says Johannes Eschricht.

– The results of the students’ projects have been fantastic and the customer is very satisfied. I hope we can run more projects in the future and hopefully some of the students will start working with us after their studies, says Tobias Kummel, Head of Sigma IT Consulting.
