Collaborate with Students

Companies and public organisations are increasingly discovering the benefits of working with students. For example, having a student carry out a thesis or short project in your organisation gives you access to new perspectives and insights while building valuable contacts.

Our students will become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs and community stakeholders and we attach great importance on providing our students with the opportunity to establish contacts with representatives of industry and society during their studies at BTH.

For the student, the partnership is a chance to gain work experience and put their skills into practice. For you as an employer, it is an opportunity to connect with potential future employees.

If you are interested in student collaboration, we are more than happy to facilitate contacts with relevant students or teachers.

Degree projects

In many of our study programmes, different projects are carried out in cooperation with companies. These give the students a picture of the problems and issues that can be encountered in future professional working life. The company, in turn, may, for example, get suggestions for new working methods or assistance with certain investigative assignments.

The student’s degree project will demonstrate the student’s skills and some students choose to write their degree project in collaboration with companies or organisations.

Win-win situation as students and companies meet

The collaboration between Blekinge Institute of Technology and the company Dynapac has given about 150 students the opportunity to work on real problems, either in courses or degree projects. The company has also participated in research projects resulting in licentiate and doctoral theses.

"Working with real-life problems and companies is a unique opportunity for our students. It gives them a deeper understanding of how their knowledge can be applied."

For Dynapac, the collaboration has helped to explore new ideas and innovative solutions.

"It is stimulating to work with the students. You often get to see things from a different angle than you thought yourself", says Pontus Jonsson, Design and Development Support Manager at Dynapac.

BTH plans to continue the collaboration and give more students the opportunity to develop their skills in real working environments.

"The visits to the companies are important for the students to practice collaboration and communication, which is crucial in the engineering profession", says Marco Bertoni, course manager for the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering programme.
