Blekinge Institute of Technology and Region Blekinge are making a strong joint investment in the future of marine technology - an investment of SEK 50 million over five years.
Based on Blekinge's strategy for smart specialisation, the regional development strategy and the strategic collaboration of the university and the region, a joint investment is made in marine technology.
The purpose of this investment is to give strength to the development of the field of marine technology and is a long-term investment to secure the supply of skills and strengthen the research and development competence of industry and organisations in the region over time.
The initiative focuses on enabling the establishment of a strong and well-developed research and education environment in marine technology at BTH and to identify and strengthen relevant environments where marine technology is an application area.
Region Blekinge allocates SEK 50 million over five years. Half of the money comes from the regional development funds that the region is responsible for. The initiative will support strategic recruitment to continue building competence in marine technology that strengthens BTH's role as an engine in the ongoing investment in the marine technology area in Blekinge.
Purpose and goals
The initiative has two main focus areas:
- Building a strong research and education environment:
Create conditions for high quality research and education in marine technology at BTH. - Strengthen application areas:
Identify and further develop environments where marine technology can be applied and create benefits for both industry and the public sector.
