Karlskrona Hosts International Workshop on Efficiency and Productivity
Researchers from around the world gather in Karlskrona for SSWEP 2025
The Department of Industrial Economics (TIEK) at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) welcomed researchers from around the world to Karlskrona on September 8–9 for the IV South Sweden Workshop in Efficiency & Productivity (SSWEP 2025).
The workshop brought together around 30 participants, including PhD candidates, professors, lecturers, and researchers from universities and institutions in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Australia, and USA. Among the highlights were keynote lectures by two distinguished scholars, Christopher Parmeter (University of Miami, USA) and Christopher O’Donnell (University of Queensland, Australia).
Over two days, the workshop addressed themes ranging from electricity distribution and regulatory challenges to agricultural efficiency, manufacturing sustainability, and methodological advances in productivity analysis. Combining high-level research with policy relevance, the sessions sparked lively discussions and laid the foundation for future collaborations.
The workshop was not only about research-the program included joint lunches and traditional Swedish fika breaks. Participants also enjoyed a boat ride to the Marine Museum, where a guided tour and a memorable dinner combined research exchange with an authentic Karlskrona experience.
The workshop was organised by Professors Jonas Månsson (BTH), Anupama Unnikrishnan (BTH) and Kristofer Månsson (JIBS). Financial support was received from Scandinavian Policy Institute, Malmö and the Hamrin Foundation.
