TIEK Professors meet Nobel Prize Laureate
TIEK professors Pontus Braunerhjelm and Martin Andersson were invited by the Embassy of Canada in Stockholm to meet Nobel Prize laureate Peter Howitt at a special academic gathering.
Two professors from the Department of Industrial Economics, Pontus Braunerhjelm and Martin Andersson, were recently invited by the Embassy of Canada in Stockholm to attend a distinguished gathering celebrating this year’s Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences laureate, Peter Howitt.
The event highlighted the groundbreaking contributions of Professor Howitt, a Canadian economist who was awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his work on the theory of sustained growth through creative destruction. This framework explains how innovation drives long-term economic expansion.
Hosted by Canada’s diplomatic mission in Sweden, the reception provided an academic exchange and international dialogue. Professors Pontus and Martin joined distinguished guests to honour Howitt’s achievements and the impact of his research on innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth. These topics are closely aligned with TIEK’s research profiles.
Professor Martin Andersson described the invitation as an honour and an enriching opportunity to engage with leading thinkers in the field of economics, noting the profound influence of Howitt’s work on contemporary studies of growth and innovation.
The participation of TIEK faculty at this high-profile event emphasises BTH’s active role in the international research community and its commitment to fostering scholarly networks.
