What does Erasmus mean for staff at BTH?

Erasmus+ offers all employees at BTH the opportunity to go abroad for professional development. This can be either as teaching staff within their subject area or as administrative staff. Through the program, you can participate in mobility to one of our partner universities or other relevant organizations in Erasmus+ program countries. It is an excellent way to develop professionally in an international context.

What opportunities do our employees gain through participation in the program?

Through Erasmus+, employees can take part in a range of activities, such as:

  • Job shadowing colleagues with similar tasks at another university or organization.
  • Training weeks related to their own area of work.
  • Seminars, workshops, and short courses that promote both personal and professional development.

These activities provide new perspectives, knowledge, and networks that can enrich daily work at BTH.

How do you practically go about participating in an exchange?

The first step is to identify your own development needs and consider what you want to achieve through the mobility. Ask yourself questions like:

  • What do I want to learn?
  • Which skills do I want to strengthen?
  • What type of activity best suits my purpose?

Next, contact the Erasmus coordinator at BTH for support in the process, help finding a suitable host organization, and guidance with the application. Information about the process is available on Inside.

How can an Erasmus exchange contribute to career development?

Participating in an Erasmus exchange allows you to experience new cultures, work methods, and organizational models. It gives you the opportunity to:

  • Develop new perspectives within your profession.
  • Improve your intercultural and communication skills.
  • Build international networks that can be valuable for future collaborations.

This type of experience can boost your career and contribute to increased motivation and job satisfaction.

What would you say to a colleague considering taking the opportunity?

Go for it! An Erasmus exchange is a unique opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. You gain new insights, are challenged in new environments, and can return with renewed energy and fresh ideas. It is an experience that is hard to achieve without going abroad and can change the way you view both your work and the world.

EURAXESS

EURAXESS is a European network under the European Commission that supports researchers with career development, mobility and information on rights. The network also makes vacant research positions across Europe visible.

EURAXESS is both a comprehensive web portal and a network of physical EURAXESS centers. Since 2018, BTH is one of 633 centers in Europe offering support to researchers.

EURAXESS aims to attract researchers to Europe and Sweden, facilitate mobility and reduce barriers that may arise. Through the network, higher education institutions collaborate on recruiting, introducing and developing international researchers and creating inclusive environments.
