Quality of life

Working hours

  • For teachers: Annual working hours apply and are regulated according to Collective Agreements/Collective Agreements-T.
  • For technical and administrative staff: Flexible working hours are available, if work allows. Flexible working time means that you can adjust your working hours within certain time frames to create a work-life balance.

Working remotely

We want to make it easier for our staff to combine work and private life in a sustainable way. That's why we offer the possibility to work remotely when the business allows.

Reduced working hours

  • Technical and administrative staff have reduced working hours on certain days of the year.
  • When National Day falls on a public holiday, you will receive an extra day off as compensation.

Annual leave

All staff are entitled to a longer continuous period of leave for rest and recuperation. You are also entitled to paid vacation in your first year. The number of vacation days depends on your age:

  • 28 days until the year you turn 29.
  • 31 days from the year you turn 30
  • 35 days from the year you turn 40.

BTH also pays a holiday supplement of at least 0.44 percent of your current salary per paid holiday day.

Allowances

  • Extra parental allowance : In the event of parental leave, BTH supplements the general parental insurance.
  • Extra sickness benefit: BTH pays 80 percent of your salary from days 2 to 14 of a sick period. From day 15, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency pays compensation, and BTH supplements this compensation.

Leave without pay deductions

As an employee of BTH, you are entitled to leave without your salary being affected:

  • Doctor's visits and visits to a district nurse, physiotherapist, counselor or midwife.
  • Dental visits in the event of acute dental problems (referral required for emergencies).
  • Blood donation
  • Family matters such as serious illness, death, funeral or probate (max 10 days/year)
  • Moving (1 day/year)

Health and well-being

BTH invests heavily in promoting employees' physical and mental health and offers a range of benefits and activities that support well-being.

Health care and activities

  • Wellness allowance of SEK 3,000 per year.
  • Opportunity to take a wellness half-hour during the working day.
  • Daily group training sessions, such as functional training, spinning and football.
  • Free access to the gym and outdoor gym, as well as great running trails by the sea.
  • Access to masseurs and physiotherapists on campus
  • Tips and tools for recreational exercise.
  • Possibility to borrow a desk bike.

  • SUP and kayak available to borrow.

Reimbursement for medicine costs

BTH reimburses the cost of prescription drugs up to the high-cost cover.

Occupational health care

As an employee, you have access to the Feelgood occupational health service, where you can get work-related medical, psychological and ergonomic advice. You can contact the occupational health service directly for advice by phone, online or in person.

Feelgood offers support from professionals such as occupational physicians, occupational nurses, physiotherapists/ergonomists, psychologists and work environment engineers. Free services include counseling, coaching, CBT, individual assessments and evaluations.

Monitor glasses

If you need VDU glasses for your work, BTH will pay for the examination and the glasses.

Unique campus environment

BTH's campus is located by the sea, which provides a great opportunity to take a dip from the jetty during the working day. In addition, all employees receive coffee, tea and fruit daily - a small everyday benefit to make your working day even better.

Security of employment

At BTH, individual salary setting is applied, with the exception of doctoral students who follow a salary scale. The salary is based on the nature of the work, your skills and market conditions.

Occupational pension

As an employee at BTH, you are covered by an occupational pension, which serves as a valuable complement to your general pension.

Partial pension

Do you want to scale back for retirement? At BTH, you can apply for partial pension and work part-time during the last years of your working life.

Salary exchange

At BTH, you have the option of salary exchange, which means that you exchange part of your salary for higher pension savings in your occupational pension.
