Gender equality goals

BTH structures its gender equality work under three main headings:

  1. Education
  2. Research and Development
  3. The conditions for operations

Under these headings, areas with development needs are identified, and specific gender equality goals are formulated. The efforts are planned, documented and followed up in both the regular plans of the operations and in the overall Gender Equality Plan. To ensure success, indicators are used to help measure and monitor results.

Gender equality plan - measures for improvement

The Gender Equality Plan is a key tool for achieving the set objectives. The plan is compiled annually and is based on

  • the results of the previous year's work
  • a gap analysis between the desired and current situation.

The work is coordinated by the gender equality coordinator in close dialogue with representatives from the organization and the student union. Actions are presented to the Council for Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities and approved by the Vice-Chancellor.

Key points in the process:

  • Responsibility: Each action has a responsible convenor.
  • Follow-up: Actions are followed up continuously and adjusted if necessary.
  • Reporting: Results are documented and reported in the annual report.

Strategic direction for 2023-2025

For the period 2023-2025, the Government has commissioned higher education institutions to identify gender equality problems and develop a strategic direction for the work. BTH focuses on analyzing how gender inequality affects the sector's core activities - education, research and collaboration - and defining goals and activities to meet these challenges.

BTH's strategic direction describes how the university works to:

  • Address gender inequality issues through concrete actions.
  • Promote gender equality in line with Sweden's gender equality policy, the EU's Agenda 2030 and BTH's vision:
"A better world through knowledge, competence and innovation in digitalisation and sustainability."
