Blekinge Institute of Technology has a national mission to contribute with knowledge, competence and innovation, and our activities are highly characterised by internationalisation. BTH conducts education and research in areas where society has great needs. We are driven by application and collaboration and through our national and international collaborations we contribute to developing Blekinge as a knowledge and growth region.

Our profile: digitalisation and sustainability

We work for digitalisation by:

• Developing and disseminating knowledge about technologies, processes and methods that enable a digital society.
• Developing and communicating knowledge about how digitalisation and its consequences can contribute to a better and sustainable society.
• Developing our operations and support processes using new digital technologies and associated working methods.

We work towards sustainability by:

• Providing students with knowledge and understanding of how they can contribute to sustainable development in their future professions, as well as the conditions to develop values and approaches to sustainable development.
• Having high societal relevance in our research, and thus developing knowledge and skills to support sustainable development.
• Be a role model in our own operations, with high ambitions regarding, for example, energy use, purchasing, travel, and a working environment for staff and students that is characterised by trust, meaning and diversity.

Objectives and strategic choices

Below are our objectives and strategic choices in education, research and postgraduate education, as well as in the operating conditions.

Education and training

BTH offers professionally oriented education in the fields of technology and health. The programmes are of high quality, are student-centred and research-oriented, and are intended for both national and international students. With a degree from BTH, students create the conditions for society's development in digitalisation and sustainability. With their specific subject knowledge combined with generic skills, they meet the current and future skills needs of employers

Research and doctoral education

BTH conducts research with a focus on digitalisation and sustainability. There is a strong link between research, education and the university's collaboration with companies, authorities and other social actors. The goal is to solve society's challenges, and the three missions are each other's prerequisites for this.

The prerequisites for operations

In order for BTH to be able to provide high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education and research in the best possible way, employees with the right skills, relevant support functions in various areas, an adapted infrastructure and a good working environment with a good working climate are required. The needs of the business and the demands placed on the university as a well-managed and financially efficient authority must guide our priorities.
