Student life by the Baltic Sea
Welcome to Karlskrona and our campus in the heart of the archipelago, where the forest meets the sea. Here you can enjoy a unique study environment with proximity to nature, while also enjoying an active student life with student associations and activities.
Karlskrona is a unique city located at the heart of an archipelago and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. In addition to its historic buildings, churches and fortifications that reflect the city's long history, Karlskrona and Blekinge offer unique natural surroundings. The archipelago consists of 1,650 islands, islets and skerries, which you can visit by bike, on foot, or via ferry or boat. Last but not least, Karlskrona is one of the sunniest cities in Sweden.
"I really enjoy living in Karlskrona. The weather is pleasant, and it is close to the sea. Although the city is not very large, there are still many places to visit and explore, and the restaurants are nice. As a PhD student, I can also join sports activities such as table tennis, badminton, and ice-skating lessons, which are very enjoyable ways to spend the weekends. Overall, it has been even better than I expected."

Practical information
BTH offers scholarship programmes for both prospective students and current students. During the academic year, it will be possible to apply for a scholarship for studies commencing in the following academic year.
The scholarships cover part of the tuition fee but do not cover living expenses.
- October 2026: Online application period opens
- January 2027: Admission application deadline.
- February 2027: Application fee deadline.
- March 2027: Admission results are announced.
- September 2027: Autumn semester begins.

To be eligible for admission, you must fulfil both general and specific admission requirements.
The entry requirements may differ between programmes, so we recommend that you read the programme description for information about the entry requirements.
In general, all students from countries outside the EU/EEA must apply for a residence permit if they plan to study in Sweden for a period longer than three months.
Please keep in mind that the residence permit application process can take time.
