In today's mobile connected world, large amounts of data are generated that need to be managed, analyzed and linked together. This is done on a large number of servers on the so‐called Cloud. The development, deployment, and management of these is called Cloud Computing. The purpose of this course is to provide a broad background on designing, developing, deploying, testing and monitoring a cloud solution, specifically with a focus on large data sets. The course provides an overview of popular cloud platforms as well as the design and deployment of cloud applications. Furthermore, the course introduces MapReduce, nosql databases, and tools for large‐scale distributed data analysis such as Hadoop, and how these can be deployed in a cloud application.
