Admission to the course requires passed course Solid Mechanics, Basic course, 6 credits.
The course will provide in-depth knowledge in solid mechanics. The student will also practice the ability to analyze structures with computer-aided calculation methods (e.g. Finite Element Method (FEM)). Great emphasis is placed on the ability to analyze their results and assess relevance and reasoning. The student will answer the questions "Is my computer-based model correct?", "Does it give reasonable results?" After verification with analytical calculations, any deviation will be analyzed. The purpose of the course is for the student to be able to perform solid mechanics analyses in an engineering manner and to be well prepared for higher education in solid mechanics.
