Admission requirements

Bachelor's degree in a technical field corresponding to at least 180 credits. Mathematics 18 credits, Statistics 5 credits, Programming 5 credits, Industrial Economics and / or Management 20 credits, out of which 6 credits in Microeconomics. English 6.

Get a unique double degree – from both Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden, and from the University of Bergamo, Italy.
This Master’s programme provides you with knowledge and tools to analyse and drive technological development and create new solutions within industry.

The studies center on the subject Industrial Management and engineering to develop your skills of how to analyse conditions for management of process, product, and service innovation. This set of skills will make you attractive in a industry where digitalisation, artificial intelligence and data analysis are transforming how we develop products, services and processes.

What will you study?

You will develop a deep understanding of the use of technology, data and analytics for value creation. You will gain knowledge in:

  • how digitalisation develops modern production systems
  • innovation management and business development
  • advanced data analysis and statistical methods
  • project management in technical environments
  • entrepreneurship

The first year is spent in Bergamo with a focus on production and technology. The second year takes place at BTH, where you will deepen your knowledge in innovation and sustainable business development. The programme ends the fifth semester with a 30-credit degree project in industrial economics and management.

Over two and a half years, you will study 150 credits to gain tools and skills to develop, lead and improve the industrial systems of the future.

You will study in both Italy and Sweden and receive a double degree from the University of Bergamo and Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH). This programme is designed to create a high quality experience by pooling expertises from two higher education institutions.

Year 1 – Production Systems and Industrial Management (Bergamo)

During the first year, you will build a strong technical foundation in production and industrial management. You will learn how data, AI and digital tools are used to streamline manufacturing and create new business models and industrial processes.

Year 2 – Innovation Management and Business Development (BTH)

The second year focuses on conditions for and development of product and service innovations. How innovation is created, driven and commercialised in technology-intensive environments. You will deepen your knowledge in business strategy, research methodology and digital transformation.
You will study, among other things:

  • Technology venture I: innovation and business development
  • Technology venture 2: Commersialisation of innovations
  • Business strategies for digital transformation
  • Competition and market analysis
  • Productivity and technological change

Degree Project – Solve Real-World Problems

The programme concludes with an independent master’s thesis (30 credits). Here, you will have the opportunity to:

  • apply your knowledge to a real-world problem
  • collaborate with industry or researchers
  • develop solutions to current technical or business challenges

After Graduation

This programme prepares you for an international career in technology- and innovation-driven organisations. You can work as a:

  • production manager
  • business or data analyst
  • project manager
  • consultant
  • product owner

You will also have a strong foundation for applying to doctoral studies in industrial management, innovation or production engineering.

Students who apply for a course or programme, and meet the general and specific entry requirements, compete with one another for available places. The study programmes at BTH are continuously monitored and developed through yearly follow-up dialogues, course evaluations after each completed course, and programme evaluations. Results from follow-ups and evaluations can lead to changes in the programmes. These changes are always communicated to the students.

Each educational programme is tied to an advisory board that discusses issues such as the quality of the programme, its development, and relevance for the labour market. In the advisory board, or a committee to the advisory board, teachers, external members, students and alumni are represented.

The tuition fee is SEK 70,000 per semester. One semester corresponds to 30 ECTS credits. EU/EEA citizens are not required to pay fees.
