Digital Cultural Heritage Southeast | 2026-2028

The project will develop digital solutions that bring Kalmar and Karlskrona's cultural heritage to life, focusing on Kalmar Castle, the medieval town, and the World Heritage Site of Karlskrona Naval Town.

The aim is to increase accessibility, participation, and understanding of the area's history, especially for children, young people, schools, residents, and visitors with different needs. The project strengthens cooperation between the counties, highlights the shared cultural heritage, and contributes to a more innovative, inclusive, and sustainable climate in the southeast region.

The work is being carried out in collaboration between municipalities, destination companies, and other actors, with each party responsible for its activities within a common structure. Activities include learning, prototype development, pedagogy, monitoring of the surrounding world, and testing of new digital technology in cultural environments. The project also aims to increase knowledge, strengthen the identity of the sites, and create more engaging cultural environments. The project also contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and strengthens preparedness by digitally preserving and securing access to cultural heritage in the event of a crisis or societal disruption.
