Directed Data Link
Aeronautical products increasingly include cooperative platforms and autonomous systems, such as aircraft, ships, robots, drones and decoys. The project thus realizes technologies for the described transformation and strengthens European cooperation in radio hardware development.
Aim of the project
The project will develop a concept for a network topology protocol and a suitable waveform, with the aim to be executed on a hardware infrastructure that is power adaptable and transmits with high directivity. The project represents a first step towards familiarity with air data links, which are urgently needed as replacements for existing link systems.
Implementation
The project is initiated with a Saab description of (i) the hardware platform and associated external processes (ii) the requirements for the tactical data link, (iii) the requirements for sensor data transmission, and (iv) a representative scenario against which the various COM concepts can be tested. The network protocol and the waveform are developed in parallel, which ensures the necessary consultation for common adaptations. Moreover, developed concepts are iterated against the scenario itself and reworked as necessary taking into account results.
