Game Development with A Focus on Gaming Behavior and Prevention

The research project is in an area that spans several research disciplines, where there is currently a significant research gap and lack of communication between gaming technology research and medical addiction research. The ambition is to develop a research collaboration in which we can link clinical aspects of gambling addiction mechanisms and correlates with the measurement of gambling experience, gambling behavior and addiction mechanisms in an experimental setting and relate the research results to game development for gaming pleasure without gambling addiction.

An important goal of the project is to develop an international interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers in gambling behavior and gambling addiction. The project is carried out in interdisciplinary collaboration between DIKR at BTH and a research group in gambling addiction research in Skåne, where the postdoctoral position, filled by Dr. Yan Hu, forms a node in the collaboration. A consultation group exists to support the postdoctoral position. The group includes Med. Dr., leg. physician, Professor Anders C. Håkansson, researcher in addiction medicine with a focus on gambling addiction, Lund University Hospital and Region Skåne's Addiction Center, Associate Professor Veronica Sundstedt, researcher in computer science/computer graphics, BTH and Professor Sara Eriksén, researcher in computer science/interaction design and applied health technology, BTH.
